West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves 0-7 Wythenshawe Town

Wythenshawe Town were in League Challenge Cup action this weekend, with West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves the opponents.

Wythenshawe made a quick start to the match, taking the lead after 5 minutes when Ben Brooks slotted home to make it 1-0. Lee McGregor made it 2-0, 5 minutes later from a free kick, when he lunged in to chip the ball past the keeper to extend the lead.

20 minutes brought the 3rd goal of the game, West attempted to clear the ball, but the header could only find Ashley Woodhead who fired home.  Ben Brooks scored his 2nd and the team’s 4th when he was played in out on the right side and he poked it past the keeper on 40 minutes.  Jonathan Rand also found the net just before half-time through a header from a corner to give Wythenshawe a 5-0 goal lead at half-time.

Half-time Result: WEST RESERVES 0-5 WTFC

Wythenshawe still maintained a good tempo in the 2nd half and found the net for a 6th time when the ball was played out to the left wing to Remy Williams who curled it home. Then 8 minutes later Ashley Woodhead added his 2nd with a spectacular run into the box and a couple of stepovers later he had the keeper beat to leave a simple tap in.

Full-time Result: WEST RESERVES 0-7 WTFC

Next up for Wythenshawe Town is a trip to Knutsford to face Knutsford ‘A’ in the Altrincham FA Cup on November 1st.
