Wythenshawe Town travelled to NWCFL Premier Division
Maine Road in a mid-season friendly in what was going to be a tough test for
Wythenshawe due to the hosts being 4 divisions higher than Town.
Ben Brooks opened the scoring after a tight opening
slotting home just inside the box and Paul Walley extended the lead to 2 not
long after. Maine Road had a penalty shout just before half-time and not long
after got a penalty to put them firmly back in the game.
Half-time: Maine Road 1-2 WTFC
Wythenshawe started brightly off after the break and Paul
Walley got his second with a long ranged stunner which the keeper could do
nothing about to make it 1-3. After some sustained pressure Maine Road once
again got back into the game.
The game was into it's last few minutes, Ben Connolly was
holding the ball in the corner. Cries of "It's only a friendly put it in
the box" came and so he did and Jason Walley finished the game off 2-4 for
a great friendly win for Wythenshawe Town.
